October Leadership Update

Posted by Tim Boal on

In his book Retro-Christianity Michael Svigel notes that in regards to the way churches do church:

Small single-service churches . . . home churches with rotating locations . . . mega-churches with thousands of seats . . . large churches with home groups . . . mega-churches with multi-services at different times and days . . . multi-site churches with recorded messages and online campuses . . .  multi-site churches with live feed from the main campus . . . multi-service churches with multiple campuses, when it comes to American church ministry models, if you can imagine it, it exists.

We are presently entering the selection process of identifying and selecting the kind of model that would best fit Grace Church moving forward. As we have noted before, the elders will be looking at the core values of the church as identified by you in the recent survey and will seek to select a model that matches those core values, with the further step of identifying how such a model connects to the local and unique culture of our area. A core value model matched properly with a clear vision of our surrounding mission field, and an appropriate discipleship and equipping methodology, has the potential to start a whole new and exciting life cycle for Grace Church.

Final answers to the questions and review of the comments asked during the survey process are now complete and I want to thank the elders for their incredible number of man-hours devoted to that completion!

I trust this work, which is available for your review by clicking here or picking up a copy at guest services, will demonstrate the deep desire of Grace Church leadership to hear you and learn more from your suggestions.

With the conclusion and distribution of this document we have come to the place where the time for looking back has ended and the time to look forward has begun. The apostle Paul puts it this way, "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,  I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 3:13-14).

We have incredible opportunities before us to make a difference for Christ in our community and around the world. The deposit of spiritual gifts here at Grace is incredible, and now a commitment as stewards of what God has provided to the church is required. Will you join me in praying for clear direction and God's wisdom for all of us as we move forward together for our Lord's glory? May Jesus our Lord be pleased with this His church in the days, weeks, months, and years to come! We will explore the doctrine of the church these next two months on Sunday mornings here at Grace and I believe you will agree with me that the best is yet to come!

Thank You,

Pastor Tim
